The Oregon Cultural Trust was created to provide long-term support for culture in Oregon. The Trust provides grants to county and tribal planning groups, arts organizations and cultural agencies throughout the state. If you already give to a cultural nonprofit, you can make a matching gift to the Cultural Trust. In return, individuals will receive a 100% tax credit of up to $500 and corporations will receive a tax credit for contributions of up to $2,500.

In effect, you can direct that a portion of your tax bill be used to strengthen Oregon's culture.

You can also purchase a Cultural Trust license plate for your car. For picture and information about the plate and its design click here. Cultural Plates cost $35.00 per set ($15.00 per plate surcharge + $5.00 plate fee) and have a $30 additional fee again at renewal. Additional fees go to the Cultural Trust. For more information about registration and renewal visit www.oregondmv.com

NW/BCA has been sowing the seeds of an enhanced cultural life in Oregon with our early efforts to intiate the Cultural Trust and we encourage you to join in this landmark effort.

Local Partners

Regional Arts & Culture Council and Work for Art
In the Portland tri-county area NW/BCA partners with the
Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) on projects and policies.  Together we have hosted local candidates' forums and surveyed candidates on their commitment to arts and culture, published economic impact surveys, and presented forums sponsored by MetLife on innovation and creativity in the workplace.   NW/BCA advocates as needed to urge city and county approval of their budget, and two NW/BCA board members also serve on the RACC board of directors.

RACC and NW/BCA work together to build and promote Work for Art, a workplace giving program for arts and culture.  Executive Director Virginia Willard and several NW/BCA board members sit on the Work for Art Campaign Cabinet.  Through this program, and thanks to a match from the City of Portland, more than $446,000 was raised for local arts organizations in FY07, an 880% increase over the year before!

Cultural Advocacy Coalition

Part of NW/BCA's role is to act as an advocate on behalf of arts and culture in Oregon. We use the "collective corporate clout" of our business members to rally support for legislative issues which will raise the level of state funding for the arts. We work closely with the Cultural Advocacy Coalition (CAC), a 501(c)(4) lobbying organization with a professional lobbyist in Salem advocating for additional dollars for arts, heritage and humanities. CAC's legislative strategy combines a coordinated grass roots lobbying approach with an emotional appeal, presenting both the facts and the passion of arts and culture.
